The oldest part of Humble sits around Main Street and Higgins Street. Homes there date back to the boom years and the decades after. Many went up before 1970, when galvanized water lines and cast iron drains were standard. Those materials rust from the inside and eventually leak.
Growth pushed outward after Houston Intercontinental Airport opened in 1969, and Fall Creek filled in much later. Low ground near the West Fork of the San Jacinto River has flooded before. Harvey hit homes along that river hard in 2017. Rebuilds there usually mean new drywall, flooring, cabinets and trim.
Kitchen and bathroom updates come up most in the older parts of town. Small mid century layouts feel tight by current standards. We open walls, move plumbing and rebuild the room around how you actually cook. Bathrooms often need the drain lines and supply lines replaced at the same time.
Whole house repipes in PEX are common in the older core. Sewer line replacement comes up when cast iron has rusted through under a slab. We also swap water heaters and replace old panels that cannot carry a modern load. Additions and garage conversions help when a family needs another bedroom or a home office.
